good google grief

Instead of finishing up two last essays that I have hanging over my head, I'm reading LIS-related articles so it kind of feels like I'm doing school work. As I feared, my good intentions soon turned into an ego-maniacal rampage, when I found this article describing internet searcher behaviour. Apparently, 90% of search engine users will click on a result in the first three result pages.
This of course led me to some self-Googalization.

On Google.com, there are only two references to me, none of which are on the first page of results. This obviously means that I need to try harder in my attempts to infiltrate America.
On Google.ca, if I restrict my search to Canada only, there are a whopping 10 results. One of these results, is a big lie I wrote in order to win a contest. Yeah, okay, Christopher and I were in Croatia but the rest is a Guinness-induced elaboration. I never won the stupid contest anyway.
My name was nowhere to be found on Google UK's first 3 pages.

My favourite thing about Firefox is the little search bar in the top right hand corner, where you can search a whole slew of search engines with the drop-down box. I then proceeded to search for my name in Yahoo, A9, and even Lonely Planet and the Food Network, because you never know where your name will show up.

I'm wired on coffee and girl guide cookies, so am just waiting up to make a wake-up call to Christopher. It's almost 7 am in London, and I want to make sure that he doesn't miss his flight.
